DVD
The West Cork Railway DVD was first relesed in 2008 having sat in a biscuit tin for almost 50 years.
The Original film was taken in 1958/9 by Brian Baker who’s family ties to the West Cork Railway comes from his father who worked as station master in Clonakilty in the 1930/40’s. He later returned with special permission to film the last days of the railway line before it was decommisioned in 1961.
Showing most of the West Cork Railway from the engine room, this unique footage brings all who view it back down memory lane to simpler times.
Such was the over whelming responce to the first DVD that Brian put together a second 2 disc DVD, Too Good to be Forgotten, to show stills from the Walter McGrath collection and further film footage taken before and after the closure of the railway, with film shot by other railway enthusiasts.
The production of the film was made by Signcraft, Bretby UK and monies collected after costs are donated to the charity “the railway children” http://www.railwaychildren.org.uk/
